Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team in Italy as the primary HR professional on site at our Brescia Manufacturing Plant as well as remotely serve as the primary HR representative for our small team in Sweden, Gothenburg.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping our HR practices and ensuring the smooth functioning of HR operations in Italy and Sweden.

As the primary HR professional on site, this role combines generalist HR-related responsibilities with administration of payroll in coordination with the managed services payroll vendor as well as responsibility for recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance with Italian labor laws.
This role requires a proactive and versatile professional who can handle a wide range of HR tasks independently, seeking to grow and develop their career in human resources.

Position Responsibilities

General HR Support:

  • Maintain accurate HR records, support implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Employee support: Provide general HR support and guidance to employees and management.
  • Recruitment: Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from job posting to candidate selection and coordinating orientation and onboarding.
  • Administrative: attendance entry, holidays, illness, check of pay slips, with constant interaction with the external consulting firm or external agencies (e.g., government departments, insurance providers)
  • Draft employment contracts that align with legal requirements and company policies
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees providing guidance on HR topics in alignment with the Director, HR, and supporting employee relations processes.
  • Coordinate performance process, supporting managers in setting performance goals and providing feedback
  • Conduct investigations and provide guidance on employee relations issues
  • Generate regular reports on HR metrics to identify trends and recommend improvements to HR practices
  • Identify training needs to support career development initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with Italian labor laws and regulations
  • Stay updated on changes in labor laws and ensure the company’s practices are compliant.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs as required
  • Maintain relations with local Unions and manage disciplinary actions

Payroll Vendor Management:

  • Efficiently manages the payroll process, to include securing management approval and partnering with the payroll provider to ensure data accuracy and timely payment of salaries.
  • Manage the relationship with the managed services payroll vendor
  • Collaborates with the Director, Human Resources for merit increases, bonuses and other salary changes
  • Handle payroll queries and resolve any discrepancies with the payroll vendor
  • Ensure compliance with Italian payroll regulations and tax laws through effective coordination with the vendor

Benefits Administration:

  • Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, pensions, and other perks.
  • Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries and claims.
What we are looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree, or a related field is preferable
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a related HR role
  • Experience with payroll administration is preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of Italian labor laws and regulations.
  • Experience with managing payroll vendors and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to build strong productive partnerships at all levels and leverage conflict management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR software.
  • Fluent in Italian and Advanced English, both written and spoken.
  • Detail and process-oriented problem solver

Work structure: Hybrid. This is a Full-time position but we are open to consider applicants applying on a Part-time ≥ 70% basis.
